As a graduate of Newark’s Arts High School he has received numerous awards for his exceptional leadership and commitment to empowering others to excel beyond the stereotypes of the world. Terrance also served as the Student Council President of Arts High School in Newark for the 1999-2000 academic school years. After receiving his BA in Political Science with a focus in Public Policy, from Bloomfield College of New Jersey, Terrance enrolled at Seton Hall University as a Graduate student, fall 2004. Recently, he completed a master’s program at Fairleigh Dickerson University, adding a Masters in Administrative Science to his credentials.
Terrance has refined and conceptualized the fine essence of leadership. To date he has succeeded in: Becoming the Student Government Vice-President and President, Creator of the Student Government Merger Initiative, Resident Director for the 2003 Summer EOF Program all at Bloomfield College of New Jersey, being appointed as the Coordinator of a newly implemented Residence Life Development Program under the auspices of Bloomfield College’s Division of Student Affairs, serving as the Student Event Coordinator for the Office of Co-Curricular Programs, Office Assistant for the Dean of First Year Experience and Special Programs/Executive Director of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program, Tutor/Counselor for the Upward Bound Program, 3-year Resident Advisor for the Residence Life Program and Student Coordinator for the College’s Ambassador Program, all during his time at Bloomfield College of New Jersey. Moreover, he served as the Associate Director/Youth Events Coordinator for the South Ward Cultural Center of Newark, Community Coordinator for Tri-City Peoples Corporation, Family Service Worker for the County of Essex and the recent appointment as Director of Constituent Services for the City of Newark.
With these abundant accolades, some ask how he still found time to be a participant in Bloomfield College’s Leadership and Diversity Retreats while making the Deans Distinguished Students List as well as the Academic Deans List. Terrance has been recognized for dramatically changing student leadership at Bloomfield College of New Jersey. In addition, has also worked on numerous campaigns throughout the state of New Jersey. In his current position as Director of Constituent Services, Terrance advocates for numerous environmental and social issues affecting the greater Newark area; particularly asthma.
Currently Terrance holds the record as the youngest Director to serve on a municipal, county, state or federal level. Terrance is also a member of the 2003 College Leadership of New Jersey Class as well as a member of 2000 Boys State of New Jersey Class. Lastly, Terrance, this year, has been recognized by Ebony Magazine as the top 30 under 30 in America’s up and coming leaders. Terrance is featured in the February 2008 edition of the Magazine.
